Nick my learned friend what would you say are 5 must read books? I had a quick look at some Scruton and there's a few, what would you recommend? Also from other authors. You definitely have the writing prowess to write a book, so I can see that down the line. Good post though mate.
Hey mate, depends on topic. I'm much stronger on fiction, having to catch up now with the political stuff. For politics/conservatism maybe start with Scruton's 'How To Be a Conservative'. Also Edmund Burke 'Reflections on the Revolution in France'. But that one is long and boring at times!
More general conservative type books I like are Peter Hitchens' 'The Rage Against God' and 'The Abolition of Britain'.
Plus my forthcoming book, then that's five!
Or maybe CS Lewis 'Mere Christianity', or a bonus one, Michael Knowles 'Speechless'. There are great Audible versions of all of these.
Could mention many others but depends what topic/genre. Thanks!
Nice one mate, myself I usually read horror/fiction. I'm trying to figure out what is conservatism, what is left and right wing. For years I would have been called a lefty, I was anti Brexit, believed all the climate change stuff and watched BBC haha. Covid came and I began asking questions, now it's like I'm a different person.
I'll definitely have a look for Scruton's book and the others you've mentioned, cheers mate.
Climate as a a crisis is just a pretext to destroy liberty, A Canadian Patrick Moore is very good on this score - Scruton is brilliant but I might add look at the enemy - I was in the Militant Tendency in my youth and read all of ~Marx but obviously the Manifesto is short but still bloviating and none of the tosspots of the left have bothered to read it - it is rabid and the killing is a feature not a bug of Communism - know thy enemy, I'm no longer one but I am an enemy of my former self!

TCR you do realise was dibbed by Total Control Racing back in the day, a slot-car game of no fun because the cars could not come off the rails?
