"Clarkson is of a different generation to the Sussexes (I have made observations of generational difference previously). What Clarkson should have done is: write to the Sussexes stating he didn't "intend" to cause offence; publish the letter; ask the Sussexes what he needs to do to obtain their forgiveness so that HE can move on; wait for the reply; publish the reply; make a decision "appropriate" to the Sussexes response. That is how you deal with younger generations - ask them what they want and decide what you are prepared to give. New age; new rules. The old days are over and we all need to move on. Having said that I, personally, would ban the Sussexes from ever returning to the UK ever again. But, in this current age in which we live, I would probably write to them and ask them if they want to banned and, if not, why not - the response would be very, very intersting."
"Why would Amazon want to lose someone who is, ostensibly at least, one of their most bankable stars?"
Worth pointing out that 100% of Amazon's Operating Income comes from Amazon Web Services (AWS) - at present.
"The AWS segment accounts for about 13% of total net sales. Because the other two segments posted operating losses in the fourth quarter, AWS accounts for all of the company’s operating income." Worth some fact-checking but the source is reputable - see below link.
Expect a major push from Microsoft Azure (just rebranded as Software One) and Alphabet Inc's Google Cloud to harness some of that market share and, when they do, watch Amazon come under pressure from major investors. Clarkson will howl with laughter...
As I posted on the Speccie yesterday:

Never apologize, never explain.
Apologies for the follow-up.

He shouldn't have apologised. He is so much better than them and he has humiliated himself.
