Quite enraging to listen to this, the careful explanation of the exclusion. Inspired by the idea that new institutions will become respected as they gain in excellence by not being DEI, maybe it was obvious but I never saw it.
I know a flight school, started by a genuine Maverick, most of his friends died in the “Deer Wars” (on youtube) he had never had a female student then last year 50% of the intake were female . All have dropped out. They had to sell an aircraft to cover the losses. It never occurred to him that someone would drop out as its hard to get in. Just having a ten minute chat with this guy is inspiring, such a bold outlook on life. He was once asked to “taxi” a Spitfire during a show. He thought “fxxk it” and took it up, risking losing his licence but as he said, youve got to take your chances when they come along, brilliant man. Not good enough for them girls though….
