What became of your driver's dinner after the crash? I suppose he took it's remains back to the takeaway to ask for a refund. I suppose it's something we shall never know though. Alas.
You'll know to trust your instincts more in the future though I guess.
I don't know how I missed this one, after me saying you've not written anything for a while yesterday haha.
The driver was either going through some bad shit or was just a complete bell end. It'll take more than that to bring down the Big Dog, glad you're good, at least we got a funny story out of it.
That's awful that happened! Though I must admit, there is something envious in the way you end it. The idea that happiness isn't the end goal for us, just something we get to enjoy as an occasional benefit of living... and the mindset to do what we must til we have no more choice. Reminds me of something my dad (forever a conservative Catholic) has told me many times since I was small:
A saint (he knows which one, somehow I cannot recall exactly though possibly a St Francis?) was asked what he would do if he knew the world was ending the next day compared to his regular daily routine. The saints response was the same for both, as it did not matter to him as he was doing already what he needed to be doing in life and so was not as concerned as most people about when The End, nor even his own personal end, would occur.
There's a beauty to that, and something to be said for those who can achieve such a lifestyle. Of course, I am of the opinion it is still nicer to not have one's life potentially nearly taken despite how wild and insane modern society is!
Very glad you're okay and I hope your birthday was a good one (better to age gracefully, than not at all in most cases!) and thank you for sharing this! I look forward to your next appearance on Lotus Eaters, as I'm a routine viewer of theirs.
A few years after becoming a Christian I wasn't feeling happy and was trying to figure out why, as all these evangelist types when I was an atheist claimed one's life becomes filled with unbounded joy when one becomes a Christian. Suddenly two things hit me:-
1) They were lying through their back teeth.
2) We're not meant to be happy.
It was by far one of the happiest moments of my life.
We're here to lead lives of redemption in a fallen world, bearing witness to the love and truth of Christ in the ministry of salt and light in our daily lives.
The more one grows in Christ, the more one sees the sinfulness in the world and oneself, the more joy and gratitude one feels for one's salvation.
The like was for the narrative of the tale, obviously not that you were in a crash.
Haha, thanks.

Glad you're o.k Nick!
Happiness can be cultivated. www.dhamma.org But it is hard work.

You know what the ads say ‘Where there’s blame there’s a free holiday in it for you’
