I was born in Newham. Born and bred in East London. Now I live in Dumfries, Scotland. This is where my Nana was born and raised and my maternal family are all here. My paternal surname is first documented in writing in the 13th century, with roots from Morley in Leeds, Yorkshire. My maternal roots are from Clan Rose my Nana’s maiden name being Geddes, and I have ancestors with Bell and many other Scottish family names in my lineage. I am from these islands stretching back over 1000 years.
I am so tired of all the immigration I’ve lived through, it’s changed our country almost beyond recognition. Scotland is a markedly different place as well, than what it was throughout my childhood and adulthood up to the 2000’s onwards. I honestly hate it. I hate what I see, I hate what has happened to our communities, I hate the elites who have changed our lives because of their political agendas, not because of what we wanted and ignoring what we have voted for. Anyone, who dismisses these points and the problems they have brought, is being wilfully obtuse. These problems are real, they are not right and they are not fair to our island natives. Yes, natives. I use this word because that’s what we are, native to these islands. Natives to the British Isles are white. That is not racist to say, it’s not being a racist to acknowledge either. The attempt to dismiss native islanders as not being real is what is racist. Racist to us. Why is it that every other indigenous/native group is valid, except for us? Ask yourself that question before you ask anything else.
I lived in Newham in 93. Used to get off my bike as I neared home. There were burqua wearing drivers that definitely hadnt properly passed a test.
Surrey man thought he was playing the Gentrification Game. Unfortunately he's not Bruce Foresight.
Some of the most based, racist folks I know are “persons of colour “
Ironically, a good test of whether an immigrant is actually naturalised is if they think British society is changing too fast.
Totally spot on as always Nick.
Thanks!
