It's a great interview and David Frost speaks so well and broadly. As to wokeness I think it is proportional to a mix of government interference, higher taxes and lower growth. Essentially, high taxes and a sclerotic real economy make being being a rentier or crony relatively much more attractive. I still think DF is operating in his comfort zone, he talks about wanting to change the Tory party but out of 300+ Tory MP's how many are actual conservatives? 30-40? Is that really enough? The most impactful move DF could make would be to leave the Tory party and join a challenger party like Reform....taking as much of his experience and knowledge about political workings with him.
Great episode as usual. Wish we could have politicians talk so candidly as that here in US. Perhaps conservatism is different in US v UK but I was a bit surprised Lord Frost's take on DeSantis's"book bans" and advocating instead to let free speech essentially laugh woke out of existence.
What what we have in the US won't work via free speech as the final solution. We have people rewriting history in the name of cultural appropriation (accredited by our US Dept of Edu) and classics even banned in woke states such as Uncle Tom's Cabin and To Kill a Mockingbird, as well as Dr. Seuss because of supposed racist undertones.
Yet here we are now saying that the gvt shouldn't be banning porn books in primary schools but it's ok to rewrite history and ban English classics? As an American conservative, I think the gvt's role is to uphold the values of society, including the value of protecting children's innocence as well as teaching the truth of history.
If you change the documents/books, it does not eradicate the truth of the past. This is why you still see Nazi concentration camps still standing: to remind us of what is historically right or wrong. It's a shame we are removing "offensive" statues, place names, and taking away history books, depriving children of the truth and swapping them with woke indoctrination instead.
Frost is always measured and consistent. He is also consistently grounded and understands what the country is like outside the Westminster bubble, a major strength.
He gives me hope that there could be a a better future with more people like him in the debate. Thanks Nick

Excellent interview with Lord Frost Nick really interesting and surprisingly candid. Thanks to both of you.
Thanks!
