Really enjoyed your conversation with Simon Evans on That Hideous Strength/The Inklings. Between you, you really know your stuff.

Some good insights in this Nick, thanks for appearing.

I see Rupert as a bit like a monarch, setting the general course and being a strong symbol for the common sense attitudes people want to see restored. The smart and aware young men around him (Conor Tomlinson is very impressive) will do the intellectual heavy lifting, then it’s up to millions of ordinary people to get on board and not let the vanity of minor disagreements sidetrack us.

Toward the end, one of the commentators was eye rollingly dismissive of people on the “Tommy marches”. To me that’s elitist, thousands of people finding what expression of frustration that they can. Its a lot of effort and time and money to attend a march. Maybe he feels his efforts are more worthwhile but it the possibility cannot be excluded that he is just a right prick and should keep his sneers to himself.

He has written a long explanation in the comments. He didn’t mean it to come across like that. I didn’t get into it as it’s a massive topic on its own.

Pity that’s all you have to say from such a long stream as there was lot of good stuff I thought.

I felt angry in the moment, Ive met a lot of very normal people on those protests and they should not be dismissed.

I appreciate intellectuals discussing these subjects and listen to them as I work and I can’t imagine how hard it is not to put a foot wrong in long form discussions but it felt like a clanger.

I will get over it.

Dixon Cox is the best thing I listen to. Never a clanger in that👍🏻
