Time to fight back, Nick. We must all do what we can to stop this madness. I try to do my bit in the political sphere. If everyone just challenged this leftie bull in their own little way then we can still win. Anyway, all the best to you

Entirely correct, however how is an excellent intellectually researched critique (based on copious reading etc) going to effect any real change, if the arts community are in a “captured” group of folks who rely on publishing, exhibitions etc to keep relevant, not to mention paid!!! The decision makers in the arts are more often than not immensely privileged so need to maintain a certain status quo to at least hold on to a power base.

Where has the risk gone if deemed politically incorrect (where real art lies so often!!!)

Are you guilty of abandonment if not wanting to continue in comedy……critiques are one thing, being a part of a positive movement away from self appointed censorship another. I think you have a lot to offer, look forward to reading your reflections, but fear exposure and ability to be well understood by a wider audience could stand in your way somewhat.

GB News needs to give you a platform, it would bring in a wider audience on the station I think….,

Sorry this is so long..,,

I wouldn't worry too much about what I'm doing. I put that bit in at the end so I wasn't just telling others what to do without working on it myself. I am working on things every day. This was an additional piece of work (done at 4am) in response to my despair at the futility of working on artistic projects in this culture. Therefore I wanted to motivate myself and others to do something about that.

I don't want to do comedy anymore, though as I hint in the article, that is probably the easiest place to eschew the mainstream. Not easy, but eg Leo and Andrew Lawrence are doing well on YouTube and still do standup. It's not ideal and you don't have the infrastructure, but you can at least be funny and people will see it.

Publishing seems much worse because self-published books, though it may be the only way, don't have any kind of quality control. Substack is great, but so far seems to be about non-fiction. It may be we have to go back to serial fiction like Dickens or Dostoevsky sometimes did, but published through something like Substack.

Film very difficult too due to necessary budgets. Same with games.

So this was more about inspiring people. Luckily you're already doing your bit by subscribing! (Much appreciated).

Oh, as for GB. I see it as a day job. I'm grateful, but they will never see my talent and eg I smashed hosting Andrew's show but was never asked again. It is not interesting creatively but while it lasts is much better than most jobs.

Well, no gratitude needed, I read a little of what’s interesting and hopefully good, making almost no comment on it, but I must say 4am or not, you sound somewhat defeatist, which frankly according to me is ridiculous (huge ego sorry, mine, not yours!!!)

Although, maybe show hosts are concerned about being usurped by others in what I would imagine, is a tight game, a populist approach is what the overall consensus is with the station, which is certainly not me or indeed my family, but we watch GB News often, and are certainly not populists in the ordinary sense of the word. Is there room on GB News for both you and Andrew Doyle, I think yes, if the station is to survive.

It’s a struggle isn’t it……I’m a catholic and see your issues with marrying what you do with what you say, and of course, more importantly, what you believe, nothing is easy…..

The big question then is ….how to get our points across without appearing elitist surely (especially when correct on a moral basis.)

Art and politics have been captured, I can’t speak to comedy as you most ably can, but as far as I’m concerned, stick with the visual platform that keeps you relevant!!

Pleasure to subscribe by the way, and please don’t reply, just do what’s needed!!!

A welcome and honest piece from the heart. I believe the biggest problem we face is the propagandised psychological battering, accelerated by peer-approval focused social media, that has made the masses believe that the only reasonable form of dissent is polite, passive, unexpectant dissent. It's probably the most important mind trick they've played and it's easy to understand why; you could almost smell their fear of the masses during the recent riots, which is why they made such an Orwellian showcase out of the subsequent trials. I agree that all dissent is good, but no state-approved dissent will make the machine stutter.
