Brings back memories: "Someone from Eton told me that at school they learnt the name of every single cabinet minister. At my northern village comprehensive we wouldn’t have known what the cabinet was, unless we were smashing somebody’s head on it." Have signed-up to donate £5 per month to TCW after reading your article..really getting fed-up with the Speccie. Happy to punt a few quid for more of this...

Nice ltitle piece. Nowt wrong with comprexpensive back in my day, 70's. Yeah career guidance was shite, but if you worked hard hot the grades you could achieve.
