There is a brilliant documentary called "Mein Liebster Fiend" (My best friend) by Hertzog about Kinski, who lived with Hertzog's family as a boarder. Some of the stories he tells make you wonder why he'd ever have anything to do with him after that experience. However the documentary is highly recommended.
