Big news, my new podcast has got off to a flying start with an interview with Andrew Bridgen MP!
This interview ended up happening via a strange series of events I may go into at a later date, but the main point is you can listen to it now.
I have called the podcast The Current Thing, which is frankly one of the all-time great titles. It captures the politics/culture war angle, but also with the right amount of tekking the piss, as we used to say up north.
For boomers, it comes from the ‘I support the current thing meme’.
And now you can support the current thing by listening to the show and subscribing etc. Thanks.
Anyway, the interview with Andrew was great. As you may know, he recently got into a pickle for his tweet about vaccine harms, which led to him losing the Conservative Party whip.
I began the interview by raising my concerns about the Tweet, but as you’ll see this was far outweighed by my admiration for what he is trying to do by giving a voice to the vaccine injured, at great risk to his own career and reputation.
We discussed the lawsuit he is bringing against Matt Hancock, having been smeared by the former Health Secretary (an unpleasant experience for anyone) when the latter accused Bridgen of antisemitism.
He also had some very interesting thoughts on Lockdowns (which he regrets ever having supported), the vaccine (which he regrets having taken), and his concerns about the British Heart Foundation.
Beyond that, we covered Mr Bridgen's extraordinary record of winning crushing majorities in his constituency of North West Leicestershire, a former Labour stronghold that the Conservatives had all but given up on before Bridgen swung the seat in 2010.
Bridgen’s passion for his constituency, which I called a “libertarian autonomous zone”, was infectious. By the end of the interview I almost wanted to live in Leicestershire (almost).
And we also had a little time for one of my preoccupations: whether Britain is doomed forever or can be turned around.
Mr Bridgen was on top form throughout, and it is safe to say that sceptics of the Covid narrative have a tenacious new ally. It took Bridgen 12 years to expose the Post Office scandal. It may take another 12 to expose the vaccine harms scandal, but I would not bet against him.
As he says: “The silence on this issue is contagious. I’m hoping courage can be contagious as well.”
I highly recommend you listen to the audio here.
PS. I will also be releasing the full video soon, but it helps me if the algorithms know you like the podcast so maybe just click and download it even if you’re waiting for the video.
PPS. This post is sponsored by Thor Holt, who I know is a big fan of Mr Bridgen.
He’s also the man to go to for help with your business/career/salary negotiation, etc – there’s very little Thor can’t do.
Plus he’s a top bloke, and if you’re the kind of person reading this, he’s definitely your kind of guy too.

Many thanks.
Nice work Nick. As a suggestion, can you get Tobias Elwood on? That way you can ask him about spying on Britons, as a Lieutenant Colonel in the 77th Brigade; then ask what he is doing to stop himself spying on Britons, as Chair of the Defence Select Committee.
Excellent podcast, Bridgen is very brave, must be quite lonely in the multi-party but one dimensional House of Commons. A collection of nodding dogs. I would definitely take care when crossing the road if I were him. Incidentally the original 77th Brigade were the Chindits who operated behind Japanese lines during WW2. The comparison with Ellwood et al, well....
