Before watching this I had seen a bit of the UnHerd podcast with Wolfgang Munchau and Yanis Varoufakis where they were dissecting the AFD victory in Saxony and - of course - drawing parallels with the rise of the Austrian postcard-painter and the inexorable (as they see it) rise of ‘fascism’ in Europe. Varoufakis threw in a comment about ‘thugs and fascists’ in Portsmouth ‘teeming in the streets, planning a program against a few wretched refugees’. It’s lame as f, but also worse than just lame. People seem just incapable of not invoking the 1930’s spectre. It’s pathological, at this point.

After that, this podcast of yours was like a breath of fresh air. I despair of the legacy media commentariat, sometimes, although UnHerd is not exactly legacy media and isn’t too bad on some things, but they let themselves down sometimes, as does the Spectator, and this is a typical example. And, to be fair, Munchau and Varoufakis are quite good on the EU.

Anyway, your take on Portsmouth was really spot on, and coming after that knee-jerk reaction on UnHerd it really was welcome. You said it right - what are these men supposed to do?

Excellent piece Nick. I`m reminded of George Orwell and his comment about how the soft middle class elements who despise the working class will rely on "rough men" to defend them in times of conflict. I agree with you about a series of skirmishes as peoples patience explodes as new dreadful acts take place rather than some massive event.

I thought of the very same Orwell quotation too.

This is the most satisfying bit of content Ive listened to since the Dixon/Cox episode that ended being about britpop. Perfect summary of the complicated situation in Portsmouth.

I couldn't agree more.

Thank you, Nick for your reasoned and rounded perspective on what is a parlous and desperate situation.

The British government is the willing, treasonous partner in an end-to-end criminal franchise borne out of years of radical political failure.

This latest in a line up of pop-up prime ministers and his obscurantist cavalcade of pop-up minsters mean harm.

This threadbare, cardboard silhouette of a leader and his trailing herd of dun acolytes now require the benefit of some stern instruction from the British electorate - the situation is of such gravity.

Therefore, let the electorate show some mettle and institute a permanent, peaceful kettle of the parliamentary estate at Westminster.

Let the electorate not lift this permanent, peaceful blockade until this administration at last resolves to direct its considerable power and resource to a declaration of the permanent sovereignty of the United Kingdom and the immediate interdiction of the catastrophic, repeated incursions into the United Kingdom of hostile, criminal forces.

Let this happen. Let his happen without delay. Place this matter at the stern front of its natural sticking point or sink, without trace, beneath the waves.

Good on you Nick. Aye, a group of normal folk who have got up to speed with the tactics of the political expedient group - use their tactics as they demonstrably get away with it, ‘they’ being Antifa. Normal folk are the perpetuation of the narrative and defending their own borders due to demonstrable heinous crimes, are being labelled by all sides as the usual - thugs. It used to be Fascism, then racist, far fight, far far right, now thugs. It means nothing anymore and it’s just another iteration of language and label that the enemy thinks will stick. Very few care anymore. They are losing and they know as much. I’m not saying this is not intentional, it is, but the division they seek is laughed at by us and is cause of tangible concern, also, it has become a deranged religion by them.

What would they call a gang rape and societal sexual enslavement of white working class girls and women by predominantly Pakistani men? I’ve no answer, I’m just trying to understand the collective that they so readily label the indigenous, but to them we are the ‘other’.

A muzziefuccan? MoWhores? Cuntquest? White meats? Low IQ delivered straight to your door? Tali and the Band? Somalia Tours?

Who is the ‘other’ when criminals are facilitated access to GB to gain the complete spectrum of its resources, be they monies, property, credit, social benefits, health system, schools, housing, cultural expectations, act out rapacious greed, rape, murder, gain power via egregious political mechanisms and means……

Great analysis Nick. The comments below reflect exactly what where I am with it. Thank you.

I'm a member of Let Women Speak - take it from me, there's a chunk of middle class women out there who, like me, are absolutely livid this is being done to us. Many of us are at a point in our lives where we're either impossible to cancel (self employed) or retired. I'm telling anyone who will listen to me the reality of what happens when you have these men living in your midst. I can feel people's discomfort, but I'm past caring.
